housekeeping bits, including a ziplist partnership

Housekeeping Bit Number One:

I have a new partner around here, and his name is ZipList. Or is ZipList a her? Regardless, we’re getting along quite well.

You may have seen the subtle change in the site. If you looked closely, or if you printed a recipe recently, you may have noticed that there is a new little icon on the recipe part of my posts.

Just beside the printer icon, there’s a cute little recipe box. Clicking on that will allow you to save recipes to your own customized recipe box through ZipList. You can click through a link at the top to get to your recipe box. Creating an account is a breeze, and once you’ve created one, you can start saving recipes from great sites (including this one, of course) all over the web.

I’m hopeful that this will make your recipe browsing much easier. ZipList has partnered with many recipe sites and several food blogs that I read and trust, including Simply Recipes, Recipe Girl, Love and Olive Oil, and Bake at 350.

Give the recipe box a try and let me know what you think.

Housekeeping Bit Number Two:

I baked bread! Homemade! From scratch! I plan to show  you pictures eventually, but not today. I’m tired and it’s been raining a lot, and I think it’s time for a glass of wine.

Housekeeping Bit Number Three:

I was on the news last week. I know, right? Crazy. I talked about ovarian cancer. Now, I don’t want to bring everyone down, but it’s a big deal for many women, and I spend my work days helping women to fight off this awful beast.

I’ve posted a link to the television interview here, in case you’re interested. I’m wearing a new dress and I think the liner is showing at the hem, and I noticed that I said “um” too much. Also, I’m not happy with the mole on my face. But, if you can get past all that, maybe you’ll get some good information from the interview.

Your TV interview was great and very informative. Please don’t be so self-critical…you looked like a million bucks (I loved your dress), you delivered a life saving message for women and you can cook. Doesn’t get any better!

Great job on the interview, MJ. I knew you had no reason to be nervous. 😉 As for the topic, I wish there were some sort of reliable screening for ovarian cancer. Those symptoms you described are so general that I can see why women don’t get diagnosed earlier…
